The last few weeks have been a whirl wind of activity. My high schoolers semester finals, packing children off to college and a long weekend in the mountains followed close on the heels of the Holiday rush. Not to mention my birthday which was celebrated with much reverie this year. Hopefully I can carve out a few moments of solitude before Spring is upon us.
I always look forward to the dark and dreary days of January and February. I love the muted colors and starkness of the dark branches against the snow covered landscape. The lack of sunshine does not bother me one bit. I hurry with my errands so I can putter around my home, cozy with candles and fires ablaze. The late afternoon is my favorite. Dinner preparations on the kitchen counter awaiting the return of my loved ones. Soft music and a good book and I am happy as a clam.
I was born in January. Maybe that is why I feel so comfy here. No reason to be out in the world. Just my inner landscape to wander and ponder. And the perfect excuse to do so. It's Winter!
Oh Kathy, once again the picture that you paint of your world is so utterly inviting. Again, it makes me yearn for my new home w/ the girls. It is a beautiful yearning. It is such fun to reenter the blog world again.
Much Love~

I like the dark and dreary, too.

I just enjoyed looking at your jewelry site. Yummy colors and textures. You sound happily cocooned for the duration.

Glad to hear you're having fun. Happy birthday to you! Can't wait for Spring myself, but then, I don't want to rush through my daughter's childhood, so I have mixed feelings now about these short days. My folks both have/had January birthdays too. And yesterday I heard a song on the radio called Mercury retrograde and thought of you. My that last bit was all random. Oh well. Again, happy (belated) birthday.
