My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy in a couple of weeks. Rome, Venice and Florence. I have been told I have to pack "light". That is not good for me. While I will pack only a black and taupe poncho, black tops, and a couple pair of pants, I have a really hard time deciding what jewelry to take. And a bigger problem with the shoes. I love these new heels I purchase yesterday (shhh! it's a secret!) shopping with my daughter. While they make me feel young and chic, I really don't have much faith in maneuvering the ancient cobblestones without breaking my neck. The last time we were in Italy while my oldest was studying there I wore flat, sensible, walking shoes. Yuck! AND my luggage was filled with HEAVY jewelry to compensate. Maybe this year I could work with more light weight scarves and a couple pair of cute shoes. Just thinking out loud......
I can't believe that you are going soon:) That is SO exciting, Kath! You are going to have the most fantastic adventure and I wish that I could fit in your suitcase! Maybe someday we will have our own adventure in Italy;) Now THAT would be trouble!
Love you, dear friend.

so funny, when I read the title of the post, "packing light" I envisioned LIGHT filling and spilling forth from your suitcase. I guess I have an unusual way of interpreting things. Have a wonderful journey...perhaps you will bring some of that gorgeous mediterranean light home with you:-)

I suggest you take along the clothes you planned, a few necklaces and plan to buy everything else when you get there. You can not go wrong in Italy as you well know. Such a great trip!! Best wishes..
