Rome took me by surprise in so many ways.
We dropped our bags at the hotel
and wandered out into the streets
to find these ancient Roman baths next door.
Michelangelo restored the ruins of one small
section of the baths into a basilica
in the 1500's.
We wandered a little more and happily, although accidentally,
found ourselves at the Spanish Steps.
A cute little cafe nearby was decorated
with huge images of Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn
from her first film "Roman Holiday".
She won the Oscar that year.
I took this photo for my youngest, Tori.
We have watched that movie together more times
than I can count.
