An interesting thought has presented itself to me for contemplation. While one of my spiritual practices is to stay centered in the Present Moment, I have noticed how much of my interest lies in things of the past. The ancient past. I am drawn to anything and everything that shows it's age. Some of the artifacts I have collected for my jewelry pieces are 500 years old and some many years older. The books I collect, (some would say hoard!) if not old themselves are of history and myth, religion and mystery. Old mysteries. Ancient mysteries. While the members of my family would prefer to spend holidays lying on a beautiful and sun kissed beach, my heart belongs to Europe and museums, Cathedrals and ruins. My boys like the usual "manly" type of films; killing and car chases, suspense and car chases, debauchery and car chases. They know they can always entice me to go along when the movie is set in one of Europe's magnificently decaying cities.
When I return from driving my little Francesca to and from dress rehearsal for West Side Story and continue my diligent work on getting my studio put back together, it will be interesting to see where this thought chooses to meander. My present is subtlety flavored with the entrancing spices of the past. They have silently seeped into every corner of my home, my life, myself. What new revelations do they have in store for me? How powerfully can they pry open the doors of my inner sanctum for a deeper peek into what makes me tick? Hmmm. Interesting.
Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for the kind email, that makes my day. What a great compliment coming from someone so talented!! Yes, I do make cards
and I will be making more (in my spare time) LOL. I am currently selling them from my website www.paintedheart.net but I'm thinking of starting an Etsy shop in the future.
Also, I love your recent posts, the 'ancient' one is a favorite.

Kathy I LOVE all things ancient...when touring a cathedral or an old church, I often wonder who was sitting in the exact spot that I was or who stood where I was standing and what where they thinking. I know it's a little odd, but it's always something that makes me feel connected to someone or something from the past.

I am with you about "age." And this piece captures a sense of past time and ancient feelings so well.

Could it be that you are a very old soul, my friend? Somehow, I know that this must be true about you.
Love,
Debbie
